Privacy policy

For those who have nothing to hide

Understand which applications disclose personal information. And how their designers do it. And for what purposes.

« To say that you aren't worried about privacy issues because you have nothing to hide is like giving up freedom of expression because you have nothing to say » (Edward Snowden)

Secure your Internet connection

It's essential to know if your computer contains backdoors

Choose your browser

Some Internet browsers are more intrusive than others. Which one should you use? Which to use? When?

Migrating to a free OS

Unlike proprietary OSes such as Windows and Mac OS X, the GNU Linux operating system doesn't take part in your profiling.

Limit app downloads

A good habit to cultivate is to download only the software you really need, and uninstall the ones you never use. A forgotten app can be an open door to your private data.

Find out more

A proverb speaks of a people who "perish for lack of knowledge". In his book "The Road to the Future" (1995, Robert Laffont edition) Bill Gates cited information as the great wealth of the future. Staying informed is the key.

Staying in the race

Never surrender your private life to big corporations. It takes some effort, but in the long run it pays off!

Mobile devices. An alternative to Google and Apple

Cell phone users should have alternatives to the products offered by the big manufacturers. But is Linux the answer in this category (Android aside)? For those who only use their cell phones for calls, a few products exist. For example, the Pine64a Linux smartphone based on open-source software. Equipped with mechanical privacy switches, it can represent a low-cost alternative (less than usd$200). Its graphical interface is powered by Plasma Mobile - the mobile counterpart to KDE Plasma which we presented to you in June 2021 - and Manjaro. But let's not get too carried away! A cell phone sold at this price won't be equipped with a processor as powerful or a camera of comparable quality to that of an iPhone or other Samsung! What's more, with Linux, there's no Authenticator, for example, an indispensable application for secure connection to certain services.
